iRay Technology has reported 1H26 results:revenue rose 57%YoY to RMB1.67bn,attributable net profit grew 21%YoY to RMB410mn,and recurring net profit increased 15%YoY to RMB380mn.In 2Q alone, revenue jumped 68%YoY,attributable net profit rose 19%YoY,and recurring net profit grew 10%YoY.iRay’s microfocus X-ray sources, solutions, and silicon-based OLED businesses are entering avolume ramp-up phase. We see upside potential from X-ray inspection demand in industrial applications such as PCB.Maintain BUY.
New businesses drive top-line growth
In 1H26,the company's detector/core components/solutions/silicon-based OLED segments generated revenue of RMB953/136/120/350mn,up 10%/66%/91%/na YoY.Excluding silicon-based OLED,1H revenue grew 24%YoY.The company continued to develop its global service platform, with the detector business delivering steady growth.Shipments of industrial microfocus X-ray sources approached 1,300 units,up over 70%YoY,which powered the core components segment. The industrial solutions business posted strong revenue growth, with applications for products such as flat-panel CT expanding and customer sampling in electronics manufacturing. In silicon-based microdisplay backplanes, the company made atechnological breakthrough, driving rapid revenue scale-up.
Share-based compensation and FX losses lift expenses
For 1H26,overall gross margin/net margin came in at 47.68/25.02%,down 5.3pp and 5.5pp YoY,largely because the silicon-based OLED business began contributing revenue while carrying relatively low margins at this early stage.Detector gross margin was roughly flat YoY,while core components and solutions gross margins improved.Selling/G&A/R&D expenses rose 26/20/49%YoY,driven mainly by share-based compensation and higher depreciation and amortization. The financial expense ratio swung from-0.69%a year ago to 4.93%,primarily reflecting convertible bond interest and FX losses of nearly RMB33mn from RMB appreciation.Adjusting for share-based payments,FX losses, and convertible bond interest,pro-forma 1H attributable net profit grew 44%YoY.
Focus on X-ray inspection applications in PCB/semiconductor
According to aMay post on the company's WeChat account,iRay's flat-panel CT inspection system—designed for advanced packaging and multi-layer PCBs—leverages fully in-house R&D spanning core components to algorithms, enabling precise detection of deep-layer defects such as TGV,micro-blind vias, and back-drilled holes. As chiplet architectures usher in anew era of 3D integration, semiconductor structures are growing exponentially more complex.Whether inside high-end PCB substrates with dense buried vias or within IGBT power devices built with multiple thinned and stacked layers, solder joints and interconnects overlap heavily in 3D space, creating what amounts to aphysical"inspection black box."With low efficiency in traditional optical and ultrasonic scanning,flat-panel CT technology—with its ability to resolve layer-by-layer—is emerging as the key to unlocking quality bottlenecks across PCB manufacturing,IGBT packaging, and advanced packaging and testing.
Earnings forecasts and valuation
Prudently,we do not yet factor in incremental demand from industrial CT applications in PCB and semiconductor. We maintain our 2026/2027/2028 attributable net profit forecasts at RMB821/1,047/1,252mn(24%CAGR),implying 37/29/24x PE.Comparable companies trade at an average PE of 52x for 2026E on Wind consensus. We assign iRay a52x 2026E PE and raise our target price to RMB136.24(prior:RMB155.2 on 40x 2026E PE,or RMB110.86 adjusted for the new share capital).
Risks:volatility in medical equipment tendering and procurement policies, slower penetration of industrial X-ray applications than we expect, and delays in new product development such as CT tubes.
