Xinfengming Group (Xinfengming) has released its 1H26 results: revenue was RMB40.69bn (+21.5% YoY), and the attributable NP was RMB1.44bn (recurring NP of RMB1.52bn), +103.2% YoY (recurring NP +130.5% YoY). For 2Q26, revenue was RMB23.16bn (+22.3% YoY, +32.1% QoQ), and the attributable NP was RMB1.07bn (+166.2% YoY, +191.5% QoQ). Given the company’s leading positions in PFY, PTA, and PSF, we think that it is well positioned to fully benefit from the recovery in value chain profitability. Maintain BUY.
Revenue increment contributed by external PTA sales ramp-up
For 1H26, the company’s POY/FDY/DTY/PSF/PTA sales volumes were 2.25/0.78/0.43/0.61/1.93mn tonnes (-6.8/+8.4/-3.3/-3.8/+77.2% YoY), generating revenues of RMB15.9/5.9/3.7/4.2/10.3bn (+6.0/+26.9/+3.8/+6.4/+121.1% YoY). On pricing, the 1H26 ex-tax selling prices for POY/FDY/DTY/PSF/PTA were RMB7,044/7,593/8,690/6,778/5,335 per tonne (+13.7/+17.1/+7.4/+10.5/+24.8% YoY); the average purchase prices for key raw materials PTA/MEG/PX were RMB5,213/3,878/7,693 per tonne (+22.2/-2.9/+26.6% YoY). The company’s 1H26 blended GPM increased by 2.0pp YoY to 8.4%, driven by the industry recovery, improved supply-demand dynamics, and further expansion of product spreads.
Busy season likely to boost an improvement in demand
According to Wind, as of 21 August, PTA/POY/FDY/DTY prices were RMB6,460/8,875/9,000/9,775 per tonne, up by 13.7/8.2/6.2/5.7% from end-2Q26. Since 3Q26, the average PTA-PX spread was RMB541 per tonne, expanding by RMB304 per tonne vs the 1H26 average; the average feedstock spreads for POY/FDY/DTY were RMB1,514/1,696/2,511 per tonne, changing by +125/+29/-15 per tonne vs the 1H26 average. Since early 2026, geopolitical disruptions have elevated the cost curve, and coordinated production cuts by PFY leaders have supported profitability. The industry’s competitive strategy has shifted from ‘scale-first’ to ‘profit-first.’ Looking ahead, with the arrival of the consumption peak season, the polyester value chain may continue its recovery.
Integrated capacity layout consolidated
According to 1H26 results, as of end-1H26, the company’s effective PFY/PSF/PTA capacity was 8.85/1.40/11.0mn tonnes. The Dushan Energy 400ktpa intelligent functional differentiated fiber project, Jiangsu Xinmai 600ktpa differentiated staple fiber new materials project, and 800ktpa differentiated fiber new materials project are all progressing. Additionally, the company’s Egypt project has obtained ODI approval, completed local registration and the key milestone of a 220KV substation, with polyester and spinning plans largely finalized. We think that the company’s shift from conventional capacity expansion to integrated, differentiated, and globalized development is set to enhance its cost control and overseas market expansion capabilities.
Earnings forecasts and valuation
Considering that industry leaders’ coordinated efforts support the recovery of the polyester chain, we raise our 2026/2027/2028 attributable NP forecasts to RMB2.79/3.13/3.53bn (previous: RMB2.02/2.49/2.87bn, upward revisions of 37.7/25.9/23.0%), with EPS of RMB1.66/1.87/2.10. Referencing its comparable companies’ average 2026E PE of 16x on Wind consensus, and considering the valuation recovery of large refining and chemical companies, we assign the company 16x 2026E PE, at par with its peers, for our target price of RMB26.56 (previous: RMB21.78, on 18x 2026E PE vs. its peers’ then average of 15x). BUY.
Risks: raw-material price volatility; disappointing end-market demand.
