He has served on the boards and as a member of many local civic and service organizations including the Salvation Army, Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce, Turnage Theater Foundation, Committee of 100 and was a former local advisory board member of First Citizens Bank. He also serves as chairman of the board of trustees of the First United Methodist Church of Washington, NC.
